YLSNED: Windows powercfg command

Posted by Steven Kennedy on January 23, 2011

I was just on the phone with my Dad. He’s having a problem with his Dell Desktop PC. It’ll go in to Sleep, possibly Hibernation, mode and won’t come out. He has to hold the power button down for 10 seconds to power the PC down, and then press it again to power it back up.

We’re still working on a possible solution to this, which I’ll hopefully have a post on once we resolve it.

Anyway, back to learning something new everyday. In looking around, search engines are your friend, I came across the command ‘powercfg’. As the description from the help says; This command line tool enables users to control the power settings on a system

Who knew, well I do now.
